The Causeway Alliance takes home an award of merit in recognition of an outstanding project from ACENZ at the 2017 Innovate Awards held on Saturday 12th August.

These highly regarded awards celebrate the technical excellence of the design and execution of outstanding innovative projects from all engineering disciplines. Each project is evaluated according to its complexity, innovation, the elegance of the solution and its social and environmental impacts.  As well as the depth of technical knowledge and the client relationship within the team.

“Coffey is honoured by this award and is proud to be a part of the Causeway Alliance with the NZ Transport Agency, CPB, Fulton Hogan, AECOM and Jacobs team, which successfully delivered the SH16 Causeway Upgrade Project.” said Andrew Mailer, General Manager New Zealand.

“This project demanded innovative and cost effective ground improvement strategies, and that is exactly where Coffey’s geotechnical expertise can add value” continued Andrew.

The SH16 Causeway Upgrade Project involved raising the motorway by 1.5-2.4 metres to prevent flooding and widening it to provide additional capacity and bus shoulder lanes in both directions. The cycleway alongside the motorway was also raised, widened and upgraded. The success of this alliance model in delivering innovative solutions for this complex project with time and cost certainty has led to greater diversification in project delivery methods for investors in large scale infrastructure and capital projects in New Zealand.
