Tourism is one of the fastest growing worldwide industries and can play a role in increasing economic growth and securing livelihoods.
The DFAT-funded, PNG based Economic and Public Sector Program is holding a panel session today to look at strategies to develop PNG's international and domestic tourism market.
The panel will include the PNG Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Honourable Boka Kondra and cover topics including:
- addressing the barriers to an effective tourism sector, such as law and order
- linking the poor into benefits of any local supply chain opportunities created by tourism, and
- the role of the government, private sector and civil society organisations in promoting tourism
The PNG Economic and Public Sector Program is managed by Coffey on behalf of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
